7 Seconds Reissues Classic Album New Wind with Ian MacKaye Remix

Trust Records recently revealed a killer upcoming reissue of New Wind, the anthemic 1993 hardcore punk juggernaut from 7 Seconds. In honor of this release, Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara have put together a new remix, Change in My Head. Look no further than one of T4America’s big new releases coming soon! It will be released on digital and in retail stores on May 23, including both New Wind and the brand new remix combined.

In My Head perfectly encapsulates the magic touch of punk rock legends 7 Seconds. It reimagines rarities and unreleased tracks from their debut New Wind recording sessions in 1985. The remix not only revives these hidden gems but reimagines the songs that initially appeared on New Wind’s original tracklist, providing fans with a fresh perspective on the band’s pioneering sound.

Ian MacKaye was the original producer of New Wind. He collaborated with producer Don Zientara of Inner Ear Studios to produce this groundbreaking remix. Their blend of musical creation is meant to inspire new spirit in this vibrant music of past masters, while respecting the traditions from which they sprouted. Whether you’re a veteran of the scene or discovering them for the first time, this reissue offers insight into the progression of 7 Seconds’ music, artistry and legacy.

The band briefly reunited in 2022 for a North American tour alongside Circle Jerks and Negative Approach, following a hiatus that began in 2018. The end was due to injuries that their original drummer Troy Mowat had sustained and issues with sobriety and mental health that their original bassist Steve Youth had been previously battling. So after an amazing 38-year career, they finally agreed to split.

Alongside this release, we’re thrilled to welcome punk legend Kevin Seconds (of 7 Seconds) for a live, in-person discussion with Ian MacKaye, in advance of the documentary’s release. They’ll be talking about the creation of both “New Wind” and “Change in My Head.” This special in-person event is happening on April 15 at Brain Dead Studios in Los Angeles.

“The whole time period, between the winter of 1985 and all throughout 1986, was arguably the most important and life-changing period for 7 Seconds.” – Kevin Seconds

The recent reissue of *New Wind* together with *Change in My Head* pays respect to the band’s legacy. Beyond that, it marks an important cultural milestone in the history of hardcore punk music. Trust Records honor the enduring legacy of 7 Seconds with their recent reissue. More importantly, they illustrate the band’s groundbreaking and genre-bending contributions to the genre.
