The International World AI Film Festival will be held in France. We will highlight efforts where use of AI is positively impacting creativity in the film industry, not stifling it. Marco Landi, former Chief Operating Officer of Apple Worldwide and founder of KIDZ ON!, these are the challenges that this festival aims to demonstrate. Countering Nathan’s fear, at the same time it celebrates the innovative potential of this technology in telling stories.
The France-based EuropIA Institute sponsors the annual IA festival. It’s designed to facilitate collaboration between key stakeholders from the film industry and AI tech world. The event will include hands-on storytelling workshops in an effort to creatively and ethically combine these two worlds. Legendary French filmmaker Claude Lelouch will serve as Chair of the festival. He will lead its mission to demonstrate the transformational impact of AI on the filmmaking process.
Marco Landi expressed his vision:
“Our aim is to show how AI is not destroying creativity – on the contrary, it gives more opportunity to the imagination.” – Marco Landi
The festival will award the best video art works and scripts that use AI tech. All entries will be juried by a jury of peers, presided by the legendary screenwriter Thomas Bidegain. The jury is made up of well-known industry players including CEO of Banijay France, Alexia Laroche-Joubert, and actress/director Julie Gayet. They’ll be judging projects entered from 65 different countries. This eclectic tapestry ranges from students, visionary seasoned filmmakers to AI experts.
The festival has continuously landed huge support from large partners Arte, TF1, Canal+, Pathé Films and Banijay Entertainment. In fact, for the first time, both Banijay and Pathé are sponsoring awards to celebrate exceptional work in the emerging space of AI-assisted filmmaking. Genario, an artificial intelligence platform designed specifically for screenwriting, is a new partner and sponsor for the awards.
The crowning achievement of this festival honoring creativity will be at the awards ceremony on Friday night, April 11. As the festival continues this week, join us for these interesting discussions and lectures. These sessions will explore the innovative collision of new AI technology and creative practice.
