Tom Felton, known for portraying epic lowlife Draco Malfoy in the long-running and well-loved Harry Potter series, has recently shared what it was like filming on set. During the session, he touched on his lifelong connection to his co-stars. Felton expressed his enthusiasm to PEOPLE before the grand opening of the new Wizarding World Harry Potter store in Chicago on April 9. He’s particularly excited to experience this newest and most interactive addition to the wizarding world.
And of course, the Harry Potter film series that, as much as it took over audiences from 2001 to 2011, helped launch Felton’s career embodies that magic. It was clear that he fondly reminisced about his time making the eight movies. Looking back, he just has a lot of positive, joyful memories from that time. He admitted, selecting a favorite moment is no easy feat.
Felton continues to get physical with his movie dad, Jason Isaacs. What I like is what he mentions about the importance of staying connected with the rest of the cast. He noted that they have a WhatsApp group for the cast to keep in touch with each other all these years. The sense of community they all talked about is evident as the camaraderie created by their shared experience shines through, keeping that collective energy still going and growing.
The newest Harry Potter flagship store in Chicago adds magic and wonder inspired by the Goblet of Fire. You’ll find an amazing selection of home and film swag to choose from! Felton said he was very happy to see the house colors of Hogwarts represented all over the store.
“Not only does seeing the house colors bring me back to being Team Slytherin all the way,” – Tom Felton
The store is stocked with more than 500 movies’ worth of candy – it’s a sweet-toothed movie lover’s paradise. In addition, visit an amazing speakeasy-inspired Butterbeer Bar with decadent baked goods to savour! This shop is the fourth Harry Potter-themed retail store in the world. That’s after similar successes in London, New York City, and Tokyo.
Felton said he’s looking forward to being part of the vibe of the new store. He jokingly teased about having his plan to crash one of the background shots as an extra.
“I’ll definitely be sneaking into a background shot as an extra,” – Tom Felton
He further shared his shock at the fans’ continued excitement for all things Harry Potter. He then frequently engages with fans to hear their passion and devotion for the franchise. Today, the iconic and beloved series has come to a complete end, but its legacy still dazzles us on a grand scale.
Looking forward Felton can hardly contain his excitement for the wizarding world’s future, especially with a Harry Potter television series coming soon. He looks forward to finding new tales in this world that has already given him and readers so much happiness.
“I think we’re all very excited to see the wizarding world continue. I look forward to knocking on young Draco’s door and surprising him, or something like that.” – Tom Felton
