The Naked Gun Reboot Set to Bring Fresh Humor to Classic Parody

Look forward to the recently announced reboot of The Naked Gun! It’s about to come to cinemas near you, injecting a new, modern day sensibility into the family-friendly classic 1988 crime drama show Police Squad. Directed by Akiva Schaffer, the film features Liam Neeson in the lead role as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., stepping into a character made famous by Leslie Nielsen in the original series. This new version seeks to honor the craftsmanship created in the original run of Police Squad while giving a fresh, 21st century comedic spin to it.

At the same time, we expect this reboot’s Neeson-in-the-Naked-Gun role as a nod to Nielsen’s signature character. The movie is full of the absurdist humor and slapstick comedy that was the hallmark of the original ZAZ (Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker) parody series. The compelling cast, in addition to Neeson and Paul Walter Hauser, as the Captain. Further, it features great turns from Pamela Anderson and CCH Pounder. Other cast members include Kevin Durand, WWE superstar Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu and Danny Huston. They all contribute to the starry cast!

The trailer for The Naked Gun has taken the internet by storm! It gives audiences a first look at the film’s specific blend of 21st-century absurdism and old-school ZAZ parody hijinks. Both critics and fans have been going gaga over the film’s formula of The Lonely Island’s goofball humor paired with classic parody art. This successful formula ensures that everyone from die-hard fans to brand new audiences will appreciate its unique humor.

Through reimagining the narrative almost 30 years later, this reboot breathes new life into the characters and creates storylines that better suit today’s audiences. With all new gags and set pieces, it nonetheless captures the spirit of the originals. This series hopes to attract the eyes of more casual fans who aren’t familiar with the classic. Simultaneously, it’s trying to please everyone with the nostalgia of the old school 1980s/1990s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES humor.
