Wavves, the renowned rock band led by frontman Nathan Williams, has made a significant announcement regarding their upcoming album and tour. The band dropped their new single “Goner” on [insert release date], which was produced by the legendary Travis Barker. Brandan Dermer directed the music video for the song. It features wonderful footage from Wavves’ recent wildfires-benefitting charity show at the Zebulon venue in Los Angeles.
The first single “Goner” instills a kind of thrilling premonition for what Wavves’ forthcoming LP, Spun, will bring. Prepare yourself for its arrival on June 6th together with our friends at Ghost Ramp! Williams is back with his longtime bandmates, Stephen Pope, Ross Traver, and Alex Gates. Combined, they vow to produce the crisp, transfixing sound that listeners have learned to adore.
With a new album on the way, Wavves aren’t just playing live music — they’re touring! The North American tour starts June 24 in Santa Cruz, California. The tour will cover a full month, wrapping up on July 25 in Los Angeles. Looking to catch all the action, fans? Wavves, with an opening stop on their tour in San Francisco, California, Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Ever since, Wavves has been hard at work showcasing their continued evolution in the music scene with the release of single “So Long” earlier this year. Their previous album, Hideaway, released in 2021, cemented the band’s stir in the rock scene. Since then, Wavves has worked with countless artists, including Beach Goons, Death Lens, and Latino/Chicano punk rock collective Chokecherry.
The story behind the creative process for “Goner” goes to show how committed Williams is to the craft. He expressed his journey in developing the song, stating:
“I had this song I had been sitting on, always revisited it and tried to record it a bunch of times but it was never just right. Eventually it was giving me PTSD. I was talking to Travis about doing some songs together and when I opened up the vault to him, this one jumped out so we laid it down and finally we got it right.” – Nathan Williams
This new collaboration with Barker is a great example of that chemistry between the artists. All Spun fans can expect a new but still recognizable sound!
