FKA twigs, the British singer-songwriter known for her groundbreaking sounds and performances, recently shared some exciting news that’s hugely significant. She canceled many other scheduled shows and festival appearances due to persistent visa troubles. The artist is scheduled to perform at the Axe Ceremonia music festival in Mexico City on Sunday, April 6. From there, they’ll work up sine waves, syncopations and schadenfreude at their two desert appearances at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California, on April 11 and April 18.
The cancellation follows a spate of recent career highs. This is a major blow for FKA twigs. She has yet to play Coachella since her first showing back in 2015. The artist, Janelle Monae, went public with her frustration in a moving message about the whole fiasco.
“I’m devastated to share the news that due to ongoing visa issues I am not able to see through any of my scheduled tour dates for the remainder of April across North America, including Ceremonia and Coachella,” – FKA twigs.
In addition to her festival performances, FKA twigs had announced a handful of North American headlining concerts. These appearances were included on her Eusexua Tour. This included stops in SF, Queens, and Chicago. The San Francisco show on April 19 will be at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. After that, she’ll headline the world-famous Knockdown Center in Queens on April 23rd and 24th. After opening for Burna Boy in Miami that Friday, FKA twigs was due to play in June at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and We Love Green in Paris.
Complications compounded when it became obvious that critical visa paperwork had not been filed in time.
“Production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner for us to have our visas to come to the U.S.A. and perform,” – FKA twigs.
In recent weeks, she’s been made to cancel these performances. This time, she’ll be rescheduling them to San Francisco, New York, and Toronto. And among those still in consideration — the Chicago performances that were supposed to run on June 24 and 25.
Fans have expressed their support for FKA twigs during this challenging time, with many taking to social media to share their understanding of the situation. The singer’s wholesome aesthetic and production have garnered an extremely loyal fanbase. Her presence at these supernova mega festival game-changing swiftly EPIC events is greatly missed by her astroturfed bot army.
