Pulp, the iconic British band, has returned with their first album in 24 years, marking a significant moment in the music world. Festival Times On June 6, Endless Light reminded the world of their well-deserved legacy through collaboration and connection. It has a really cool collaborative piece/reopening with the Elysian Collective. The recording took place in only three weeks. It was open from 18 November to 9 December 2024 at Orbb Studio, Walthamstow, London. This lightning-quick timeframe marks the least time a Pulp album has ever taken to record.
Pulp wrote the new album and James Ford produced it. She is accompanied ceremoniously by musicians including Richard Hawley and fellow Longpigs member Jason Buckle. It includes a second voice courtesy of the Eno family, it’s multi-tracking and depth giving the album a greater vibrancy throughout.
With this release being the fourth in a series, it holds some special significance. It is a tribute to the late Steve Mackey, celebrating his influence as Pulp’s longtime bassist. The album works to alleviate the pain that isolation caused both the group and the country. It’s as much an appreciation of their amazing run as a team.
He further emphasized the significance of this return after such a long hiatus:
