Adrianne Lenker, the incredibly gifted frontperson of Big Thief, has wonderful news. She recently revealed her new live album, Live at Revolution Hall! This self-titled album will be released on April 24 via 4AD. It’s an intimate at times, deeply emotional portrait of Lenker’s musical journey over the course of her recent tour. The album is made up of 43 tracks, featuring live versions of five unreleased songs.
The recording took place during three raucous evenings at Portland’s Revolution Hall. It was Lenkers’ tour stop to support her new 2024 Bright Future solo album. Famed producer/engineer Andrew Sarlo, a regular collaborator with Big Thief, was retained to helm the project. Through it all is the virtuosic playing of pianist Nick Hakim and violinist Josefin Runsteen, both of whom nearly steal the show. Their artistic influences added layers and texture to the stage performances.
Her choice to bring together unreleased material like “Happiness,” “Oldest,” “Ripples,” “I Do Love You,” and the title track reflect her development as an artist. That move deepens her bond with viewers. The album not only showcases her musical talent but emphasizes the theme of friendship that runs throughout the project.
This point of view strikes such an emotional chord with anyone listening, allowing listeners to connect and identify with the album on a completely different level. Sarlo went on to implore fans to completely lose themselves in the experience, advising that,
“We put friendship at the focal point making this a loving memento from one friend to another.” – Andrew Sarlo
Fans are clamoring to catch Lenker’s astounding artistry in person so don’t miss your chance to see them live at Revolution Hall. The excitement for this event continues to build every day! The album promises not only to capture the essence of her performances but to convey the warmth and camaraderie that characterized the tour.
“Consider closing your eyes, getting cozy, and listening as if you are watching a film!” – Andrew Sarlo
The anticipation surrounding Live at Revolution Hall continues to build as fans eagerly await the opportunity to experience Lenker’s artistry in a live setting. The album promises not only to capture the essence of her performances but also to convey the warmth and camaraderie that characterized the tour.
