Our, ahem, incredibly delayed and long-awaited third season of AMC’s Interview With The Vampire will be back on our screens in 2025! Set in this thrilling new era, the Vampire Lestat sets out to form a group and take to the road to tell his tale. Whether vampiric or fictional, Lestat undertakes this creative project to prove his point. He’s not a huge fan of the popular but “trashy” bestseller that first brought his character to life — and he claims misrepresented him.
Lestat is apparently quite bitter at the unflattering, one-dimensional portrait of him that’s painted in the original story. Now, he refuses to be known for anything other than who he is. His world is shattered by the unexpected death of Claudia, his soulmate, gal pal and muse. He never fully recovers from her tragic passing. Lestat laments the death, wishing he could have saved her if he had only been strong enough. That’s because Claudia will turn out to be the biggest mistake Lestat has ever made in his immortal life. So we learned that it’s not her existence that haunts him, but her tragic death. Actor Sam Reid, who plays Lestat, said “The death of Claudia is with him for eternity. I really wish he’d saved her.”
Her connection to Claudia has always been contentious and fierce. Their friendship became a collaboration spanning more than 25 years, full of emotional highs and lows. Reid notes that despite Claudia’s tragic fate, there were moments of pure connection between the two characters that will linger in Lestat’s memory. He recalls how Claudia was able to look deeply and honestly into his eyes as the show approached its ending. That moment brought them closer together than ever.
As the series progresses, Lestat’s journey will delve deeper into how he copes with the repercussions of Claudia’s death. He has not really found closure with her end and bears a huge burden of penance. This new season will delve into this toxic love, with horrifying, thrilling results that begin to guide Lestat’s choices in the years ahead.
The initial teaser announcement for the highly anticipated third season — which premiered first during San Diego Comic-Con last July — sent fans into a frenzy. AMC has released key art that captures Lestat’s transformation into a “rockstar,” which aligns with his new venture into music. For Lestat, this band is more than self-expression. It has become a cathartic mechanism allowing him to face his demons and influence the world through the power of his testimony.
We can hardly wait to welcome you all to this exciting new season! In addition to movement, viewers are excited to discover how Lestat’s character changes musically and in self-reflection. The series seeks to shed light on the various challenges in his relationships while providing a new lens through which to view his lasting battles.
