“My springtime pick would be our Classic Buckets,” – Emma Brewin

“It’s small enough to chuck in your bag and bring out when the sun goes behind the clouds.” – Emma Brewin

Brewin’s commitment to quality is evident as she reflects on her design process: “They took me years to finish, and I can safely say they are perfect.” Each hat is more than a fashion accessory—they’re a reflection of Brewin’s commitment to craftsmanship.

This is just the beginning of the fascinating world of millinery. Ruslan Baginskiy, a Kyiv-based milliner, designs with reference to Ukrainian national costumes, vintage dress and artistic expression. His unique millinery extends to fedoras, baker boy caps, visors, and berets in straws, leathers, and linens. Baginskiy’s modern, avant-garde touch introduces a whole new vibe to the classic headpiece.

Back in London, legendary milliner Noel Stewart is still ruffling feathers with his artistic feathered works of art. Stewart has designed headpieces for international superstars like Kylie Minogue, Kylie Minogue, kylie minogue, and Pamela Anderson. He thinks hat wearing is an extraordinary British tradition that perfectly combines heritage with a playful artistic spirit.

“Hat wearing has been one of the most uniquely British conventions, as it plays to two of our opposing passions: Our love of tradition and also of tearing up the rule book at the same time.” – Noel Stewart

Stewart is well aware of just how big this season is going to be for hat lovers. This time of year, more than any other,” he says, explicitly calling on the intimate cultural subtext of bonnet season. The Easter bonnet tradition can be traced back to medieval Europe. Women dressed in freshly laundered clothing to demonstrate their piety within the Lenten period.

Although some sources claim it was originally popularized in Philadelphia, the Easter bonnet became particularly popular in New York through the 1930s. Its over-the-top designs battle for attention annually at the famous Easter parade. This event draws participants eager to showcase their extravagant headpieces. The joy and creativity surrounding these bonnets echo Irving Berlin’s sentiments:

“In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, you’ll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade.” – Irving Berlin

Celestina is one more remarkable brand to watch as they continue to carve their niche on the millinery scene. Founded by Marta Weronika Orlikowska, Celestina, an independent label based in Warsaw, has been releasing since 2020. The brand focuses on hand-knitted wool hats, inspired by traditional Albanian shepherd’s hats known as ‘qeleshe’ or ‘plis. Artisans make these hats from raw Polish wool through traditional wet felting methods. The result is a breathtaking marriage of cultural tradition and modern architecture.

With spring still just beginning to bloom, more designers add their distinctive artistic visions to the world of headwear. Each hat is like a biography—whether it’s the materials chosen, who inspired the design, or the hands that made it all come together.
