Dawson’s Creek Cast Unites to Support James Van Der Beek During Cancer Battle

Joshua Jackson couldn’t have been more pleased with the positive reaction Act4’s gotten from the old “Dawson’s Creek” gang. They’re supporting fellow Dawg alum James Van Der Beek right now as he kicks his colorectal cancer in the ass. At 48 years old, Van Der Beek is going through “the most horrible” period of his life, says Jackson. This emotional confessional underscores the understandable nostalgia and strong connections between the cast, who in addition to Holmes, Williams and Philipps, includes James Van Der Beek and Joshua Jackson.

Jackson, 46, went on to share the deep connection he created with his co-stars while filming “Dawson’s Creek.” More than 22 years after the series finale, that bond still runs deep. He noted that the frequency of communication between the cast varies. Through it all, their love for each other never wavers. James is going through the seriously terrible …,” he added. In Wikipedia’s description, he is apparently ‘killed off’ alongside Van Der Beek, who finds himself on the serious end of things.

The cast has come together, according to reports, to support Van Der Beek in other serious, personal ways. Jackson didn’t provide any details as to what they’re doing. He praised the initiative and aggressiveness of Williams and Philipps. They were equally compelled to come to the aid of their co-star, who’s going through a very difficult period right now.

“And, I wish I could take credit for this, but I was kind of the absentee partner here, but the girls all got together and were like, ‘We need to do something to help this guy out,’” – Joshua Jackson

Williams has been candid and vocal about wanting to reunite with her previous costars. She has given tremendous advocacy for Van Der Beek in the meantime. Speaking at the New York City premiere of her new show “Dying for Sex,” she made clear her dedication to protecting him. She reinforced her commitment to being supportive of and available for him as well. That near-immediate closeness became even more important given this past year’s challenging times.

Jackson was adamant about the great relationship he had with Holmes. He was equally gracious to the rest of the cast for their lifting him up, including Williams and Philipps. He reminisced about their journey and how they’ve grown together through the ups and downs.

“There is, you know, these moments, these major moments in life [that], other than your husband, there’s probably no other people in your life that you are that forged to,” – Joshua Jackson

The cast’s bond has proven to be a force of nature, even after decades apart as they all went off to their own professional pursuits. Jackson shared his thoughts on the reconnection, stating, “We all just went our separate ways and didn’t really talk for years as we were living our lives. So to get back together and to really feel how much I love who you’ve become … it’s been beautiful.”

Unsurprisingly, Van Der Beek himself has been singing their praises in this press tour, and for good reason. He revealed on Jana Kramer’s podcast that he has been in contact with everyone from “Dawson’s Creek,” underscoring a sense of unity during this challenging chapter in his life.
