Bethesda has officially released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, making it available for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. This remastered treatment comes with all DLC/expansions included. Perhaps most importantly, it enriches the gameplay experience for both new players and longtime series veterans. The title is available on Game Pass as well for subscribers, which opens the game up even wider to an already engaged gaming community.
The remaster makes a number of quality of life improvements to the original game. It has a completely updated user interface (UI), designed to make finding and using the data easier than ever. Finally, the audio has been completely remastered, providing players a more realistic, immersive sound experience. For example, one of the biggest changes is the newly overhauled character leveling system. It opens new avenues for dramatic character evolution as players move further into the game.
Oblivion Remastered features new voice acting for every race in the game to enrich the interactions with characters of each race. The remaster’s path to release was mired in debate. It was unintentionally revealed while in the midst of the 2023 trial between Microsoft and the FTC. Regardless, after that initial leak, Bethesda took full advantage of the situation and formally announced the game. The standard edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is priced at $50, while a deluxe digital edition is available for $60. The deluxe edition includes additional cosmetics and quests, enhancing the gameplay experience further for those willing to invest in it.
