Spiritualized Expands Tour with New European and U.S. Dates for Pure Phase Anniversary

For one, Spiritualized, the magnificent English space rockers and longtime Indy favorites, are going on tour. They’ve recently added a bunch of new European and American dates to their Pure Phase Anniversary Tour, naturally. They’ll take the stage at major festivals and venues. Their boundary-shattering art evokes the soundscapes of excellent composers and genres.

The band will begin their European leg on May 5, opening at Primavera Sound Barcelona in Spain. After this, they will make their fortune-filled appearance on one of the stages at La Prima Estate in Lido di Camaiore, Italy on June 20. After the TBA show, they then go directly to Austria to play the prestigious Donaufestival in Krems an der Donau on June 9. Then, they’ll close out their European festival run at the Athens Epidaurus Festival in Greece on June 29.

Spiritualized are playing the Tramlines Festival in Sheffield on July 25, too, so they can re-add rock to the resume with the greatest of ease. They’re playing Beautiful Days in Exeter on August 14 and Ottery Saint Mary on August 17.

The tour will culminate with its largest stop in the United States! Don’t miss these stunning performances at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY on September 25 and at Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on September 28. Special note, as part of these U.S. dates, Spiritualized will perform their second album, Pure Phase, in full.

Spiritualized’s music draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including renowned composers Michael Nyman, Steve Reich, and John Adams, blending elements of rock’n’roll and gospel to create a unique sound. J Spaceman, the band’s frontman, describes their music as “sounds like driving as fast as you can in torrential rain,” capturing the intensity and emotion present in their performances.

Spaceman shared his thoughts:

“I think it’s quite extraordinary and I’d probably say it’s my favourite of the records I’ve made. The construction of it satisfied something in me that likes breaking the rules, not in any kind of grandiose way but there’s something in the process of that which really satisfies me. Each side of the stereo contains a completely separate mix. I checked the masters back and it still sounds like this extraordinary thing. It exists in its own space; it doesn’t sound like anybody else.” – J Spaceman

These very special performances, fans are sure to agree, will be a magical way to celebrate Spiritualized’s incomparable musical arc through the decades.
