Marvel Comics has only recently released one such saga, and it’s marvelous—literally Marvel—new seven-part saga *Bring on the Bad Guys*. This year happens to be the golden anniversary of the wondrous trade paperback that bears its name. Prepare to take a journey through the tangled pasts of Marvel’s most nefarious foes! We’ll dig deep into the motivations of characters like Loki, the Green Goblin, and Mephisto.
The event kicks off in June with Bring on the Bad Guys: Doom #1, scripted by Marc Guggenheim and illustrated by Stefano Raffaele. This first issue, expected on June 18, will have cover art by legendary artist Lee Bermejo—all the more reason to keep an eye out! Following this, the saga continues with Bring on the Bad Guys: Abomination #1, crafted by writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Sergio Dávila, which is scheduled to hit shelves on July 16.
In Bring on the Bad Guys: Loki #1, fans will find a collaboration between Guggenheim and Anthony Oliveira. This series Euphoric Recall will explore, among other things, Loki’s complicated business with the demon Mephisto. The narrative focuses on Loki, who, in a twist of fate, must retrieve a soul belonging to an agent of Khonshu at Mephisto’s command. This special issue will come out on July 30, with another cover by Bermejo.
The saga doesn’t stop there. It will expand to include Bring on the Bad Guys: Green Goblin #1, which reveals an entirely new aspect of Norman Osborn’s villainous legacy. Written by Ethan S. Parker & Griffin Sheridan, illustrated by Matteo Della Fonte. Get ready for some mighty wisdom on one of Marvel’s baddest bad guys!
Additionally, the series will feature other titles such as Bring on the Bad Guys: Red Skull #1, Bring on the Bad Guys: Dormammu #1, and Bring on the Bad Guys: Mephisto #1. Each title explores the dark, twisted world of these fearsome foes. It digs deeper into their complex stories and contributions in the Marvel Universe.
With this new venture, Marvel aims to shine a light on what makes these characters some of the most dangerous entities in their universe. Paniccia further noted,
“Marvel broke the mold with supervillains, pushing them past the archetypical to the complex and some even morally gray but still to be feared.”
The main story arc will also set up Sister Sorrow, a shadowy new villain connected to Mephisto’s master plan. Look for exciting revelations as the series unfolds — about familiar favorites and new characters alike.
