ACE Eddie Awards 2025 Celebrates Excellence in Film and Television Editing

The 75th annual ACE Eddie Awards unfolded in Los Angeles, honoring the exceptional talents in film and television editing. Held at UCLA, the ceremony marked the conclusion of the awards season cycle, providing a final stage for recognizing outstanding achievements. Originally slated for January 18, the event was postponed due to the LA wildfires, finally taking place after the Oscars on March 2. The ceremony brought together industry professionals to celebrate the art of editing, showcasing remarkable works across various categories.

In the drama category, Juliette Welfling emerged victorious, receiving the accolade for best edited drama for her work on "Emilia Pérez." Myron Kerstein triumphed in the comedy category with his exceptional editing of "Wicked," further elevating the film's success at the awards. Recognizing excellence in television, Maria Gonzales and Aika Miyake were honored for their editing prowess in the drama series category for "Shogun Episode 10." Meanwhile, Peter H. Oliver and Benjamin Gerstein claimed the limited series award for their work on "Baby Reindeer Episode 4."

The non-theatrical category saw Doc Crotzer take home the award for his skillful editing of "Road House." In addition to these competitive categories, director Jon M. Chu of "Wicked" was bestowed with the prestigious ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, acknowledging his significant contributions to the industry. Film editors Maysie Hoy and Paul Hirsch were also recognized with career achievement awards, celebrating their enduring impact on film editing.

The animation category spotlighted Mary Blee, who won for her work on "The Wild Robot," demonstrating her ability to bring animated narratives to life through meticulous editing. Monique Zavistovski was awarded the documentary prize for her compelling work on "Will & Harper," underscoring her talent in weaving together factual storytelling.
