We can hardly contain our excitement. Bend Studio has some pretty big news today. They’re bringing the long-awaited Days Gone Remaster for PlayStation 5 and PC on April 25. In addition to improving the overall experience, this remaster expands on the original game with additional features. It includes accessibility features to invite a wider demographic.
There’s new onscreen attacks with three times as many Freakers allowed onscreen at once, increasing the chaos of combat in the remaster. Players can expect to confront and engage in new exhilarating battles with these mighty adversaries. The thrilling introduction of the new Horde Assault mode only takes things to another level. This mode brings players a more dynamic and exciting combat experience. Most importantly, it gives players the freedom to tackle waves of Freakers in creative new ways.
A second big addition is the option for a permadeath mode. This latest addition dramatically increases the stakes for players seeking a more realistic and immersive experience. Days Gone Remaster boasts deep customization. You can make it yours with subtitle and background changes, picking from 11 new colors and a fully configurable high-contrast mode.
One of its best features is the new game speed shortcut. It gives the players the option to speed the game up as much as 200 percent while maintaining flexibility to slow gameplay down to 25 percent speed. That flexibility turns the open-world apocalyptic zombie survival experience—usually a safer bet for purists—into what some will call a “bullet time fever dream.”
“Game Speed determines the speed of gameplay ranging from 100 percent to 75 percent, 50 percent, and 25 percent,” – Kevin McAllister, creative lead of Bend Studio.
For players who may find themselves more affected by the pressure cooker of high-intensity play, McAllister wants Game Speed to help level the field. He mentioned that this feature becomes very useful when you are engaging hordes of Freakers. These implementers of mayhem are a pivotal factor in the chaotic yet engaging gameplay experience.
“Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high-pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers. Hordes are a pillar in Days Gone gameplay and with our new Horde Assault mode arriving in the remaster, we wanted to make this unique combat experience more accessible to our players.” – Kevin McAllister
If you already have Days Gone on PC, you can upgrade for only $10. It’s the perfect opportunity for new players to pick up the remaster at $50. If done correctly, the remaster will truly make the game accessible to all players while offering deeper engagement for veteran players with these groundbreaking features.
