Eric Dane, known for his role as the deeply broken family figure in the award-winning HBO series “Euphoria,” dropped some explosive bombshells today. He was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), an incurable progressive neurodegenerative disease that slowly paralyzes all of the body’s muscles. The announcement makes this news particularly fortuitous, as he’s slated to start work on a new project as soon as April 14.
Despite the challenges posed by his diagnosis, Dane expressed gratitude for the support of his family during this trying time.
“I have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” – Eric Dane
Dane’s private life has been a different story, filled with incredible highs and painful lows. He and his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, are separated but remain on good terms. The now-married couple first connected back in 2003 and later eloped to Las Vegas in 2004. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Billie Beatrice and Georgia Geraldine. Even though Dane originally filed for divorce in 2018, he subsequently dropped the petition.
Gayheart even opened up about her & McDonald’s relationship, pointing out how well they co-parent while living apart.
“We are great coparents. I think it’s important to not look at a relationship that ends as a failure,” – Rebecca Gayheart
She said that they had found peace and comfort in their new setup and that they are still the “best of friends.”
“We are best of friends. We are really close,” – Rebecca Gayheart
Aside from the incredible support from his family, Dane has a lot of enthusiasm about getting back to work in the entertainment industry. He expressed how thrilled he was to be going back on the set of “Euphoria” next week.
“I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week,” – Eric Dane
It’s time for Dane to begin a new chapter in his life. Even when dealing with health issues, he remains committed to both his family and profession. His diagnosis of ALS, known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, represents a significant hurdle. Dane’s determination and support system may help him face the difficulties ahead.
