Fantastic Four Faces Awareness Challenge Ahead of Upcoming Release

Marvel Studios’ anticipated film, “Fantastic Four: FIRST STEPS,” is set in a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic parallel Earth where the titular superheroes must defend their world against the cosmic threat posed by Galactus. Despite the excitement surrounding the project, early indicators reveal that the movie’s unaided awareness (UA) stands at a concerning 2%, significantly lower than its competitor, DC Studios’ “SUPERMAN.”

The movie has an amazing ensemble cast. Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman Joseph Quinn as Human Torch Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing Directed by Matt Shakman, “Fantastic Four: FIRST STEPS” aims to reinvigorate the franchise and attract both loyal fans and new audiences alike.

The film is a wonderful juxtaposition of the past and the future. It presents a refreshing, alternative vision of the world’s favorite superhero team. The Fantastic Four take on Galactus, the world-eating menace in what is sure to be an intimidating task. Joining him is his herald, the Silver Surfer, making things even more dire. Their mission to protect their world from the ravages of climate change adds an inspiring dimension to an otherwise gripping story.

Unfortunately, for as exciting as its high-concept premise and all-star line-up are, the film’s current lack of visibility is just as alarming. At a dismal 2%, it shows that possibly interested audiences are not being properly educated on the film’s impending arrival. Industry veteran experts note that the first signs of audience engagement can be found over six weeks prior to a film’s release. These sets of circumstances usually portend box office success. This continuing low awareness begs the question of whether the film’s marketing approach and/or awareness in general on a crowded playing field.

In comparison, “SUPERMAN” has managed to draw more attention and awareness from audiences, underscoring the challenges facing “Fantastic Four: FIRST STEPS.” This gap in understanding illustrates just how important targeted promotional efforts will be as we move closer to implementation date. There has been no indicated release date so far. That means the studio will have to step up its marketing efforts to increase awareness and attract potential moviegoers.
