Finn Wolfhard, the 22-year-old star of Netflix’s blockbuster series Stranger Things, is opting to retreat to his family home in Vancouver, Canada. This was enabled in part by his time on his own in Atlanta. Yet for the last few years, he’s walked a tightrope of fame seeking to manage his burgeoning stardom alongside his status individuality. Now, he’s poised to take on Hollywood.
Born in late 2002, Wolfhard grew up in Vancouver. What an incredible journey it’s been from a child actor to someone who’s such a successful matrix of the film and television industries! He was born to his father named Eric Wolfhard and mother named Mary Jolivet. His older brother, Nick Wolfhard, is able to join him on that spotlight as they both walk their own paths into the entertainment industry.
When they were filming Stranger Things in Atlanta, alone for a year, wolfhard. But since then, he too has moved back in with family, underscoring the need for stabilizing home support. He loves the family atmosphere and the supportive culture it provides as he moves full steam ahead on his many other projects.
I was living independently for a few years, probably about two years, and then I moved back into family home for a year. As you may know, last year I filmed Stranger Things and lived in Atlanta all alone. Now, I’ve moved back in with my family,” Wolfhard continued.
Wolfhard says going back home has been good for his personal and professional life. “I rarely get to see my family. I think it’s a nice home base to have, just because, if I’m going to be away for most of the year working, then I might as well have a place [to come back to] with my parents.”
Living in Vancouver allows him to immerse himself in the hobbies he enjoys most. When he’s not walking the city streets, you can find him chasing his passion for music. “I like to walk around Vancouver. I like to play music, play guitar in my studio and record music on my own. It’s a great feeling,” he stated.
He’s still making waves in his booming acting career. His newest feature film, The Legend of Ochi, will be released in theaters nationwide on April 25. In the meantime, Wolfhard continues to find the perfect equilibrium between work and play. He knows what it’s like to be so busy that you can’t imagine taking time off, yet know you should. “There’s a lot of multitasking and a lot of doing five things at once, so it’s important to get time off as well,” he noted.
Moving into 2024 and beyond Wolfhard is looking forward to a vacation in the near future. “I’ll plan for a vacation in the next few months, for sure,” he mentioned.
