Grimes, the acclaimed musician and former partner of Elon Musk, has voiced her concerns about the public exposure of her children with the tech billionaire. In a recent interview with TIME, Grimes disclosed that she was unaware of her son's recent public appearance until informed by an X user. The artist, who shares three children with Musk, revealed her ongoing struggle to keep their lives private.
The couple's children include 4-year-old son X Æ A-Xii, 3-year-old daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, and 2-year-old son Techno Mechanicus. Grimes, 36, has been candid about her efforts to shield them from the public eye. In a social media post on March 13, she expressed her frustration and described her attempts to maintain their privacy.
"I have tried begging the public and my kid's dad to keep them offline, and I've tried legal recourse," Grimes shared, highlighting her dedication to safeguarding her children's privacy.
The musician clarified that she only became aware of her son's appearance through a post on X. Despite the situation, she expressed some relief that her son was polite during the encounter.
"I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I'm glad he was polite. Sigh." – Grimes
Grimes' concern is not solely directed at Musk but also at the broader public's interest in her family. She emphasized the importance of respecting her children's privacy and reiterated her desire for them to grow up away from media scrutiny.
"The state of my children's lives being public is of grave concern to me and I think about how to solve this every day," – Grimes
The singer also addressed the media's portrayal of her remarks regarding Musk. She explained that her comments were sometimes sensationalized and taken out of context.
"It was like, 'Grimes slams,' 'Grimes speaks out.' It's like, Okay, it was a reply. But I would really like people to stop posting images of my kid everywhere," – Grimes
Grimes has faced criticism for her outspoken views, yet she remains resolute in advocating for her children's privacy. She urged both the media and the public to refrain from sharing images of her children.
"Obviously, things will just be what they are. But I would really, really appreciate that. I can only ask, so I'm just asking," – Grimes
