Haim Unveils New Album and Single Ahead of Upcoming Release

Haim have announced their long-awaited new release, Women in Music Pt. IV. We can’t wait for you to hear it—in fact, it’ll be released on June 20 through Columbia Records! Or so it seemed until very recently when celebrating the release of their hot new single, “Down to Be Wrong.” This track is the third single from their forthcoming album, after dropping “Relationships” and “79.”

Photographed by longtime collaborator and family friend of the band, Paul Thomas Anderson, the album’s work continues Anderson’s work with the band. Renowned for his stunningly beautiful and visually arresting aesthetic, Anderson has directed the previous music videos for all of Haim’s Summer Girl—lead singles. When he’s not making beautiful paintings, he’s casting Alana Haim in his movies. She’s on display in Licorice Pizza as well as One Battle After Another.

The creative genius behind the album features Danielle Haim and Rostam Batmanglij who produced the entire project. Danielle Haim, a core member of the band, brings her unique vision to the collaborative effort, further solidifying the band’s signature sound.

In a video announcing the album, Haim professed, “I quit what does not serve me.” This sentiment reflects their journey and growth as artists since their last release, Women in Music Pt. III, in 2020. The band’s last single was “Home,” which was included in Barbie the Album. It was a testament to their versatility, rich catalog, and ability to still tap into contemporary themes.

“Down to Be Wrong”— son of any guile provides their longtime fans with a window into their developing sound.

Hence the excitement surrounding Haim’s new music, as they continue to tease their highly anticipated forthcoming debut album. With their energetic blend of pop-rock and introspective songwriting, they take audiences by storm. This has definitely raised the bar for Women in Music Pt. IV.
