Jack Bech, a versatile wide receiver from Texas Christian University (TCU), is looking to take his game to the next level. He recently completed his redshirt sophomore season, so he doesn’t have to declare for the 2025 NFL draft. Bech hopes to hear his name called early in the second round on Day 2 of the event. As he gets ready for this moment, he can’t help but think of what’s to come with a smile and a tear and about his big brother, Martin “Tiger” Bech, who lost his life in a terrorist attack in New Orleans.
If all goes according to schedule, the draft would occur in late April 2025, and Bech’s family is still processing those conflicting emotions. As they experience this all at once, they feel dangerous excitement about this transitional time in Jack’s life. Simultaneously, they grieve the death of Collin Martin, a star football player from Princeton who’d begun a bright career on Wall Street. Jack’s parents, Martin and Michelle Bech, have supported Jack’s journey from the beginning, attending every game and encouraging him to follow his dreams.
Jack Bech’s passion for the game comes just as naturally to him as it does to his brother. To show that support—having moved from London to New York last summer—he booked a flight down to Texas for all of Martin’s home games last fall. While the pain is still raw without Martin, the bond that they all shared through the sport has not deteriorated. Jack capped off his college career with a stunning game-winning touchdown and was named Senior Bowl MVP.
As he looks ahead to the draft, Jack is well aware that this is a special emotional circumstance. He says he knows that even with all these difficulties, his brother’s spirit will be present with him as he achieves this major milestone.
“I definitely know that he is in a better place, and that he’s going to be here 100% with us,” said Jack.
He added, “And now he just has the best seat in the house. … He always wanted to be with me. So now he gets to be with me, just in a different way.”
Jack’s mom, Michelle Bech, said she couldn’t be prouder of both her sons. “Tiger was always known for his fearlessness, and I believe that Jack has now fully embraced that idea of fearlessness,” she stated.
And with the draft quickly approaching, Jack knows he’d be lost without the support of his awesome family. He considers this opportunity as much his as it is an opportunity shared with Martin.
“Two-for-one special. … You’re not only getting me, you’re getting Tiger, too,” Jack remarked.
