Kit Connor Clarifies Rumors About MCU Role as Hulkling

Kit Connor — the breakout star of Netflix’s hit Heartstopper — has set the record straight on speculation he might be cast as Hulkling in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He’s got the answers to prove it! The rumors about Connor’s potential take on the character have only increased over the years since first being attached to the role. The actor has now gone on record to say that he doesn’t want to play a Kree/Skrull hybrid.

Hulkling, who is majorly important to Marvel Comics’ universe. He is primarily known for his romantic relationship with Wiccan, who is a member of the Young Avengers. This dynamic is part of what’s made this relationship popular with fans and the reason behind their meteoric rise in popularity. Though he admittedly felt this connection, for still other reasons, Connor shared his hesitance to step into the role of Hulkling.

“Honestly I don’t think I’d be a good pick for Hulkling,” Connor said. Perhaps it’s that fierce honesty that indicates he really gets the character. All of Hollywood is up in arms that HE thinks a different actor should be cast in the role.

The chatter around Connor’s possible casting grew a little louder when talk of him being involved in all sorts of Marvel projects started swirling. Connor confirmed that there have been rumors tying him to the position for some time. Yet, he unequivocally said that he’s not going after it.

Connor also got some laughs sharing a cute story about his buddy, Joe Locke. Joe recently made his MCU debut as Billy Maximoff aka “TeenTeen.” I didn’t want to see Locke do big things in the MCU and have him overshadow my man’s performance—so he joked.

Joe’s a genius! I think Agatha provides everyone the very best excuse to go see him without having to look at my mug,” Connor remarked. As Joey shared, “I think everyone is going to want to see Joe in his element the way that I get to see him do his job without any distractions.

Connor went into greater detail about his feelings on their two careers. He was thrilled by Locke’s arc in the MCU. As he was post-producing the second season of “Heartstopper,” he found out about Locke’s casting. He added that eventually audiences would get sick of them appearing together on screen.

Just ask Marvel Studios, which has made a killing by rebooting its character roster to appeal to changing tastes. So, unfortunately, it’s not entirely clear whether Hulkling will appear in future projects. And now we might be talking a potential swap between Hulkling and Skaar. But beyond their striking visual similarities, these two characters’ backgrounds and stories are radically different.

Though Hulkling’s story might potentially live on in future Marvel TV or film projects, we don’t know when or where that will be. Fans of both characters will need to be calm. Naturally, they’re all chomping at the bit to see how the MCU will incorporate these legendary characters into its ever-growing story.
