Principal photography for the sequel to the 2019 spookshow dark comedy horror flick “Ready Or Not” is officially underway. Our team, which is currently working round the clock in Toronto! Titled “Ready Or Not: Here I Come,” the upcoming film is set to expand on the successful premise of its predecessor, which garnered nearly $60 million worldwide. The directorial duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for their work with Radio Silence, will lead the creative vision of the film.

Star-Studded Cast

The sequel, which debuted several weeks ago, assembles an all-star cast to match that of the original with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood co-starring. Both actors, in their own way, have fueled and contributed to the horror genre. This dynamic duo’s background makes them ideal fits for the dark comedy! The film features amazing performances interlaced throughout the lens from Samara Weaving, Kathryn Newton, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, and Kevin Durand. Famed director David Cronenberg adds his cinematic talents to the ballet.

The screenplay, crafted by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, aims to deliver a fresh yet familiar take on the themes that resonated with audiences in the original film. The combination of seasoned actors and a compelling script raises anticipation for how “Ready Or Not: Here I Come” will develop its storyline.

Production Insights

Production is currently in progress in Toronto! For fans of the original film, excitement builds to find out what will happen in the sequel. The choice to film in Toronto means using a wealth of backdrops, which can convey the overwhelming isolation of the plot’s main character. The production team will pull out all the stops, deploying cutting-edge techniques to create a thrilling visual experience. Telling these stories through the prism of a darkly comedic musical will be a perfect match.

With that in mind, it’s a smart move by Searchlight Pictures to double down on a brand they know works given how successful it was the first time around. The original “Ready Or Not” had audiences abuzz for its crafty mix of horror, humor and heart. This powerful foundation provides the ideal jumping-off point for the sequel to take root.
