The Cure Announces Remix Album Featuring 24 Artists for Songs of a Lost World

Their Cure reimagined a new album “Mixes of a Lost World” due June 13th and it will represent the largest single collection of remixes to date by 24 incredibly talented artists and remixers. This self-titled record is the third album released by this largely imaginary band, following November’s equally loopy yet profoundly resonant “Songs of a Lost World.” The highly anticipated remix project has been curated by The Cure’s frontman, Robert Smith, who was inspired by unsolicited remixes he received shortly after Christmas.

“Mixes of a Lost World” features highly celebrated artists including Deftones frontman Chino Moreno, Trentemøller, Mogwai, Orbital, The Twilight Sad, Daniel Avery, Mura Masa, Âme and Shanti Celeste. Each artist has put their unique spin on the original tracks from “Songs of a Lost World,” creating a diverse auditory experience for fans.

Robert Smith shared his excitement about the project. He explained, “Just after Christmas, I got a few unsolicited remixes of Songs of a Lost World tracks, and I totally dug them. This as a springboard for creative curation matched the collaborative vibe that runs deep throughout the entirety of the album.

Beyond its artistic merit, the album has a philanthropic dimension as well. Smith further explained that donating our recording royalties from the project to War Child UK gives a special purpose to an already unique release. That gives Mixes of a Lost World an added poignancy. This philanthropic pledge further emphasizes the band’s commitment not just to creating great music, but to raising awareness and funds for deserving causes.

The remix album starts off with new, vibrant takes on The Cure’s beautiful melancholy music. Most importantly, it invites both new listeners and longtime fans to interact with their work in exciting and innovative ways. We’re excited to see the buzz that continues to grow around “Mixes of a Lost World.” This new album speaks to the living legacy of The Cure and makes a case for their continued relevancy in today’s music landscape.
