The Pogues Announce North American Tour for 40th Anniversary of Rum Sodomy & the Lash

The Pogues will embark on a North American tour this September, celebrating the 40th anniversary of their iconic album, Rum Sodomy & the Lash. This is the band’s first tour of North America in 14 years! Looking to experience some of the world’s greatest art? Look no further from September 5 – 17. The tour will include stops in each of those cities as well as Toronto and Montreal.

During the tour, The Pogues will perform their classic 1985 album in its entirety, alongside a selection of fan favorites. James Fearnley, Jem Finer and Spider Stacy will lead the performances. They guarantee a beautifully nostalgic experience that will warm the hearts of long-time fans and rookies of all generations.

The tour will once again welcome select special guests who will join The Pogues on stage each night. Other collaborations have included musicians like Nadine Shah, John Francis Flynn and members of Lankum and the Bad Seeds. This impressive lineup promises to create an unforgettable concert experience. It honors the original band’s legacy while introducing thrilling reimagined interpretations of their music.

The Pogues are deceptively hot right now, recently reunited to tour around the death of their legendary frontman, Shane MacGowan, in 2023. Last year, they looked back on their musical legacy by treating their 30th anniversary with their 1994 album Red Roses for Me.

“To celebrate the 40th anniversary of our second LP, Rum Sodomy & the Lash, a veritable Super Session of musicians, a Last Waltz if you will—including the Pogues themselves, members of bands that have come after, such as Lankum, featuring such incomparable artists as Lisa O’Neill and John Francis Flynn, not to mention from the Bad Seeds—will gather to rekindle the music on the record with a new fire. We’re looking forward not just to raising a glass or two but also to raising the roof with our fans and friends, old and new, to celebrate the music we’ve made and the alliances we’ve formed over the years.” – The Pogues

The Pogues are set to begin the 40th anniversary tour in the UK, with the first show in O2 Academy Leeds on May 1. From there, they’ll be on to North America. It’s all happening! This part of the tour will include high-energy performances in key cities, including Birmingham, London, Glasgow and Manchester. Make sure to catch the highlight performance at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on May 3! After this, they have a date at Glasgow’s legendary Barrowland on May 6 and again on May 11 at an equally iconic venue.
