Wednesday and MJ Lenderman Revive Guttering EP with Vinyl Reissue

Wednesday and MJ Lenderman have some bittersweet news! To celebrate their continued partnership, they’ll be reissuing their collaborative EP, Guttering, which is due to land in record stores on June 20. Julia’s War Recordings first released this six-track EP on cassette format. Now, for the first time ever, it is available on VINYL! Of course, this reissue is a huge milestone for the label. Over time, it morphed into a colorful arts and multimedia platform that features the founder’s favorite indie bands.

Guttering showcases brilliant creations like “Big Money” and “Phish Pepsi”, and a cover of Greg Sage’s “Sacrifice (For Love)”. This particular cover made waves when it later appeared on Karly Hartzman and her band’s 2022 compilation album, Mowing the Leaves Instead of Piling ‘Em Up. Guttering, the collaborative spirit between Wednesday and MJ Lenderman comes through every note, every whisper. It makes a fitting tribute to the artistic ethos that has inspired Julia’s War Recordings.

>Douglas Dulagrian, the founder of Julia’s War Recordings, expressed his pride in Guttering’s legacy. He continues, “I’m very proud that this record was the first Julia’s War release four or five years ago. Crazy to think about that.” He went on to stress the importance of this reissue, adding, “Geez, that event was the spark plug for all this transformation.”

The reissue reflects the growth of Julia’s War Recordings into a label that embodies the founder’s musical preferences. Dulagrian considers Guttering and other like records to be at the absolute core of what makes the label special. As he notes, “That little dude on the cover is the first page.” He’s referring to the tiny illustration that appears on the EP’s cover art.

We’re really looking forward to the upcoming vinyl release! Fans are counting the days until they can experience this landmark creation from Wednesday and MJ Lenderman. The reissue is sure to make long-time listeners misty-eyed. Simultaneously, it introduces Guttering’s singular sound and spirit of collaboration to fresh audiences.
